(uj.edu) The University of Jamestown hockey team aimed to sweep the best-of-three ND Challenge Series after posting a 6-3 win in Minot Thursday, but the Beavers took a 2-0 victory over the Jimmies at Wilson Arena Friday night.

Due to weather concerns, the decisive third game will not be played.

After a scoreless first period, Minot State got the game’s first goal at the 11:40 mark of the second. Justin Metcalf took a Rhett Lough pass and found the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The Beavers took advantage of a Jimmie penalty and made it 2-0 on Reece Forman’s power play goal, coming at 13:21 of the third. Johl Swedlo and Kyle Lipinski got the assists.

Shots were 45-22 in favor of Minot State, who had a 37-16 advantage after two periods. One night after making 60 saves in the win against Minot, UJ goaltender Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 43 stops.

Jamestown, now 21-13-2 this season, will face Robert Morris (Ill.) on March 21 at 8:30 p.m. in the ACHA Division 1 National Tournament in Frisco, Texas.
