Jamestown  (CSi)  The Jamestown  Rural Fire Department was called out just before 4:30-p.m., Monday, to the Country Grain Cooperative in Eldridge, where a grain dryer fire was reported.
Jamestown Rural Fire, Chief,  Ben Maulding says, five  units and 14 fire fighters responed to what turned out to be a small smoldering fire caused by hot spots,  in the unit that was drying corn.
No significant damage was reported.
The Rural Fire Department was on the scene until just before 6-p.m.
The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Jamestown  (CSi)  It’s hoped that a planned change in the SkyWest United Express airline schedule planned in late April this year in Jamestown is temporary.

Jamestown Regional Airport Manager Katie Hemmer says, the airline told airport  management last week that starting April 29 this year, its 6:30 a.m. United Airlines flight from Jamestown to Denver depart at 9:30 a.m. The airline says the  regional flights use the 50-passenger Bombardier CRJ100 and CRJ200 jets . The Denver airport the airline says,  for the smaller jets is becoming increasingly congested during that time of day.

She added that change could cause connection issues for passengers, as the earlier 6:30-a.m., provides more flight connections of the 9:30-a.m., departure, and may require longer layovers.

She says the North Dakota Congressional delegation, along with the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission will be contacted, along with Governor Burgum’s Office, and local business people in an effort to restore the current schedule.

She pointed out that flyers should continue to make reservations through a travel agent or on line, to see how the schedule change would work for them.

The current 12:45- p.m. flight from Denver to Jamestown along with  the 1:15 p.m. flight from Jamestown to Devils Lake Regional Airport and then on to Denver are unaffected by the change, along with  10:45 p.m. flight from Denver to Jamestown.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man is facing criminal charges after police say he entered a home in Grand Forks, barricaded himself in the basement and started a fire.

Authorities say the man was armed with a knife when he entered the residence Saturday, threatened its residents and made his way to the basement. A short time later smoke detectors went off.

Residents left the home and police found the man barricaded in the basement where he had started a fire.

KFGO reports Grand Forks Regional SWAT officers were on scene and negotiators began talking with the 33-year-old man who was arrested several hours later.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A newly updated revenue forecast shows North Dakota’s treasury expects to collect about $1 billion more in state tax collections for the next two-year budget cycle than what lawmakers had adopted just two months ago.

The forecast presented Monday to the Legislature’s Budget Section predicted higher oil prices and production than what was set by lawmakers in January as a budgetary starting point.

Republican leaders expressed caution at the numbers that were based on input from state budget analysts and Moody’s Analytics. The Legislature’s own budget consultancy, IHS Markit, will present its prediction on Tuesday.

Lawmakers will consider both forecasts to set the final numbers Thursday when they begin finishing their work on the state’s 2019-2021 spending plan.

The Legislature has idled major spending bills until that happens.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Land Board led by Republican Gov. Doug Burgum believes $137 million has not been properly deposited in two constitutional funds that benefit schools over the past decade.

The board directed Land Commissioner Jodi Smith on Monday to testify to legislators that the money should be replenished in the common schools trust fund and the foundation aid stabilization fund.

Smith believes the state’s share of revenue from the oil-rich Fort Berthold reservation should have gone in the funds.

GOP leaders believe the money was correctly distributed by Republican state Treasurer Kelly Schmidt, based on guidance from the attorney general’s office in 2012. They have introduced legislation that would steer some oil tax money into school funds going forward, but their bill is not retroactive.

A hearing on the legislation is scheduled Wednesday.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s Senate doesn’t believe that aesthetics of a sports car are ruined by a front license plate.

The Senate killed the House bill 30-15 on Monday. It would have exempted such vehicles from displaying a front license plate.

The bill defines a “sports car” as an “aerodynamically designed motor vehicle built to seat no more than two individuals.”

Proponents say that some sports cars aren’t designed for a front license plate. They argue North Dakota should join the approximately 20 other states don’t require them.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Legislature has approved a bill that would allow American Indian students to wear eagle feathers or plumes at school graduations.

The Senate passed the House bill 45-0 on Monday.

Fargo Democratic Rep. Ruth Buffalo, the bill sponsor, says American Indians view the eagle feather and plumes as a symbol of honor and pride.

The North Dakota School Boards Association supports the legislation.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service operates the National Eagle Repository to provide Native Americans with eagle carcasses, parts and feathers.

NFL-RAIDERS-BROWN

— The Vikings have released right guard Mike Remmers and declined an option on safety Andrew Sendejo’s contract, clearing more than $10 million in space under the salary cap.

UNDATED (AP) — The Baltimore Ravens are losing one of their best pass-rushers.

People with direct knowledge of the discussions told The Associated Press that seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker Terrell Suggs told the Ravens that he won’t be coming back.

The 36-year-old Suggs said at the end of the 2018 season that he wanted to spend his entire career in Baltimore. But several reports indicate Suggs will sign a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.

In other NFL moves:

— Wide receiver DeSean Jackson could be returning to the Philadelphia Eagles. Two people familiar with the deal tell The Associated Press the Eagles have agreed to acquire Jackson and a seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft from Tampa Bay for a sixth-round selection this year. One of the sources says the trade is contingent upon Jackson agreeing to a new contract.

— The Lions addressed needs on both sides of the ball by getting receiver Danny Amendola and cornerback Justin Coleman. The Lions signed Amendola to a one-year, $5.75 million package, and a person familiar with Coleman’s deal says it’s worth $36 million over four years.

MLB-DODGERS-KERSHAW

Kershaw tests shoulder

UNDATED (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw threw his first bullpen since Feb. 20, an all-fastball session of 20 pitches.

The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner has been slowed by left shoulder discomfort. He says the bullpen session was a good step forward as he builds up his throwing for the season.

Los Angeles is not sure whether Kershaw will be available for its March 28 opener against Arizona. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Kershaw showed command and “the feel for what he was doing with the ball was very Kershaw-esque.”

MAN CITY-SEXUAL ABUSE

Man City sets up plan to compensate sexual abuse victims

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Manchester City has set up a plan to compensate victims of child sexual abuse experienced at the club.

City says a “redress scheme for survivors” has been launched, while reiterating its “heartfelt sympathy to all victims for the unimaginably traumatic experiences that they endured.”

The club says in a statement that it could not go into precise details about the plan because of ongoing investigations into historic instances of sexual abuse that have uncovered allegations against John Broome, who worked as a youth coach in the 1960s. Broome is now dead.

Another former youth coach at City, Barry Bennell, was last year jailed for 30 years for abusing 12 young footballers after being convicted of 50 child sexual offenses committed between 1979 and 1991.

City says “all victims were entitled to expect full protection from the kind of harm they suffered as a result of their sexual abuse as children.”

In world and national news…

Spokesman Asrat Begashaw tells The Associated Press that “it will take five days to clear everything” and the airline would release more details later Tuesday.

A global team of investigators led by Ethiopian authorities is assembling.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Russian state oil company Rosneft has rejected accusations by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that it is violating sanctions on Venezuela.

Pompeo said Monday that Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin — a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin — “continues to throw a lifeline” to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He said Rosneft was buying crude oil from Venezuela’s state oil company PDVSA “in defiance of U.S. sanctions.”

Rosneft disputes what it calls “groundless accusations” and says any contracts it has for oil purchasing in Venezuela pre-date the introduction of U.S. sanctions.

Rosneft is a major foreign investor in Venezuela as a partner of state-owned PDVSA, which is under U.S. sanctions. Sechin was personally sanctioned by the U.S. in 2014 shortly after Russia annexed the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine.

LONDON (AP) — Germany and other EU nations welcomed the overnight agreement reached between European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and British Prime Minister Theresa May as a last-ditch effort to avoid a chaotic Brexit at the end of the month.

Arriving in Bucharest, most EU European affairs ministers were upbeat about the deal which will be voted upon by the U.K. parliament Tuesday night.

Germany’s EU affairs minister, Michael Roth, called it “a far-reaching compromise. For the EU it’s of utmost importance that the integrity of the single market be preserved, and that there be no hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland.”

He called on the House of Commons to accept the deal “because I don’t see further chances for negotiations.”

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte tweeted that he was “pleased with the agreement” and implored that British legislators approve the deal. “An orderly #Brexit is crucial for both the EU and the UK,” Rutte tweeted. “There is no alternative.”

European Affairs Minister George Ciamba of Romania, which has the EU presidency, held out “hope this will be a game changer…but we shouldn’t pre-judge the outcome of the vote in the Commons…a disorderly exit would be the worst scenario.’

Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn called it “the last chance to avoid a no-deal.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is giving little indication in his latest budget proposal of any new policy ambitions for the coming two, or six, years.

Trump’s budget plan increases spending on his border wall and the military but is light on fresh ideas heading into his re-election campaign. His budget for the next fiscal year largely focuses on deep spending cuts and pushing more money toward established goals such as his long-promised wall, improving care of veterans and combating opioid abuse.

Trump’s latest budget offers an early window into his upcoming campaign. He may soon face questions about how he will frame his 2020 pitch to voters.

Allies argue that fulfilling many of his 2016 promises — and presenting a contrast with Democrats — will be an effective argument.
