Harvey Harold Schuh, 63, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 17, 2019, after a brief, but heroic fight against Lung Cancer.

Harvey was born March 2, 1956, in Bowman, ND to Harold and Delores (Susag) Schuh. He was educated in Bowman, ND, graduating with Honors in 1974. Upon graduation from Bowman High School, he attended North Dakota State School of Science graduating with an Associate Degree in Architectural Drafting.

He accepted a position with C.H. Carpenter Lumber where he worked as a draftsman and later as the manager for over 30 years. Harvey especially loved having coffee and visiting with all his contractors and customers. He designed many construction projects in the Jamestown area. Harvey made friends easily and was willing to help anyone in need.

In 2006, Harvey was awarded the Patriot Award and the Above and Beyond Award from the National Committee for Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve.

Harvey was employed with Hillerud Construction for a brief period before joining Reuben Liechty/Keller Williams Realty. Harvey continued working as a realtor until he was diagnosed with cancer in December 2018.

Harvey met the love of his life, Raelene Folkestad, while she was attending college as a nursing student. Harvey and Raelene married nearly 40 years ago on August 18, 1979, in Williston, ND. They were blessed with a Son, two daughters, and six grandchildren.

Harvey was an active member of the community and enjoyed spending time just visiting with people. He was a very giving person and helped out several nieces and nephews during their college days. He was also a surrogate father to many of his children’s friends who lovingly referred to him as “Father Schuh”. Harvey kept his freezer stocked with ice cream treats and offered them to anyone who stopped by his house. He enjoyed bowling for many years and being with his family, but his favorite activity was being able to spend time with his grandchildren.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Raelene; his daughter, Tiffany (David) Dooley, his son; Corey (Jennifer) Schuh; and his daughter Lindsay Schuh. His grandchildren; Jordan and Carter Dooley, Sophie Schuh, Aiden and Brennen Doeling, and Dominic Hoefs. His parents; Harold and Delores Schuh, and his siblings; Sandy (Stuart) Sipma, and Larry (Kim) Schuh. Harvey is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Harvey was always a giver and wanted to see people happy. Some of his favorite charities include JRMC Hospice, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Ave Maria Nursing Home in Jamestown.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to any of these charities in his name.
