FRISCO, Texas (uj.edu)  — Michael Cacciato scored at 13:51 of the first overtime to give #17 Robert Morris (Ill.) University a 3-2 win over the No. 16 University of Jamestown hockey team Thursday evening at the ACHA Division 1 National Championship.

Robert Morris advances to face No. 1 Lindenwood University Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Jason Richter (JR/Cranbrook, British Columbia) gave UJ a 1-0 lead at 10:31 of the first period with his 13th goal of the season. Cole Sonstebo (SR/Fergus Falls, Minn. ) assisted on the goal.

The Eagles tied the game 2:12 later with a Jake Nitsche tally, set up by Turner Cepuritis and Matthew Walton.

RMU went ahead 2-1 just 2:46 into the second period on Samuel Mancini’s goal, with assists by Giuseppe Molfetta and Sam Turner.

UJ trailed until Tyler Chavez-Leech (SO/Red Deer, Alberta) took a Bryson Yee (JR/Calgary, Alberta) pass and tied the game at the 8:01 mark of the third. It was the tenth of the year for Chavez-Leech.

The game headed to overtime at 2-2 before Cacciato got the game-winner.

Tyson Brouwer (JR/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 52 saves for Jamestown. Cole Semchak had 40 saves for the Eagles.

UJ was 1-for-3 on the power play while RMU went 1-for-1.

Jamestown ends the season with a record of 21-14-0-2.
