On April 6 Ella (Gumke) Deutscher, 88, was granted her angel wings and went to join her beloved husband and daughter.

Ella was born October 4, 1930, in Gackle, ND, to Jacob and Lousia (Schlecht) Gumke.  She grew up on the family farm and attended rural Gackle School.  Ella married Alton Deutscher on November 12, 1950 in Gackle.  They had one daughter, Germaine, and farmed northwest of Gackle until 1962 when they moved to Jamestown.   Ella worked at City Laundry and Dry Cleaners for 22 years, then retired to work as a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Al’s Overhead Doors.

Ella enjoyed being with her family, reading, gardening, camping, and working crossword puzzles.

Ella is survived by her grandson, Jason (Cristen) Gums, Red Lake Falls, MN; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alysa, and Brady, Red Lakes Falls, MN; two brothers, Harry Gumke, Verndale, MN and Dennis (Judy) Gumke, Tower City, ND; sister, Doreen Gumke, Fergus Falls, MN; sisters-in-law, Hilda Gumke, Jamestown, Sybil Gumke, Salinas, CA, Alma Becker, Jamestown, Adeline Geist, West Fargo, ND, Arlene (Gary) Geisinger, Jamestown,; brother-in-law, Art Henke, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton in 2010; daughter, Germaine in 2002; parents; sisters, Edna, Lena, Esther, Irene, and Mabel; and brothers, Walter and Irvin.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:20 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2019 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Jamestown.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens.
