Arlo Nohrenberg of Pingree, ND passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale, Arizona.Arlo Gerald Nohrenberg was born on February 25, 1930 on the family farm in Plainview Township, South of Pingree, ND to Karl and Bertha (Wentland) Nohrenberg. He was born again into the family of God by the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on March 16, 1930, and confirmed his baptismal vows in the rite of confirmation on June 11, 1944.

He grew up on his parent’s farm and he attended school in Pingree. His father died when he was 6 years old. He helped his mother maintain the farm and worked for neighboring farmers. After his high school graduation in 1948, he took over the farm on his own. He met his future wife, Dorine (Ohlmann) when she came to Jamestown to teach at Our Savior’s Lutheran School. They were married on November 28, 1965 in Valentine, NE.

Arlo enjoyed playing and watching sports. He played high school basketball, and following graduation he played local baseball. He refereed high school basketball for many years. He bowled for many years for Agsco seed company and the Town and Country League, where he made many lifelong friends. Besides farming he was an avid gardener, he and his family sold produce at the local farmers market for many years. He was known for his watermelons, onions, and sweet corn. He was active and served on the church council, the Plainview Township Board, Pingree School Board, later Pingree-Buchanan School Board, and Stutsman County Reorganization Comm. Under the county superintendent.

In 1995 he retired from active farming and he and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. They celebrated their 50th in 2015 with family and friends.

Arlo is survived by his wife, Dorine, of Pingree, a son, Joel (Kimberly) Nohrenberg, grandchildren, Reed, Andrew (fiancé Carissa Zimmer) and Kailynn of Jamestown. A daughter, Deborah (James) Lindvall, grandchildren, Alyssa, Larimore, Tessa Lee, of Valley City, and step-grandson, Taylor Lindvall, of Jamestown, along with brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jarl (Helen) Nohrenberg, and a sister, Doreen (Ralph) Noltimier, and an infant grandson, Taylor Nohrenberg.

Visitation: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 402 5th Ave SE, Jamestown with Pastor James Naumann officiating.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, ND.
