(NJ.com) More than 62,000 pounds of raw beef has been recalled over possible E. coli contamination, days ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
The meat was packaged by Aurora Packing Company, Inc, of North Aurora, Illinois, and shipped nationwide, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service.
Officials said the recalled meat include a range of cuts, including steaks and ribs, and were packaged April 19. Products covered by the recall carry an establishment number of “EST. 788” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the FSIS.
There were no reports of anyone becoming ill from the recalled meat.
E. coli is a possibly fatal bacterium that can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps within 2 to 8 day after someone is exposed, according to the FSIS. Anyone with health concerns was urged to seek medical care.
