The Warriors managed to close out the series and knock off the Trail Blazers to advance to the finals for the fifth straight year, but they are down three games to one against the Raptors.
Golden State coach Steve Kerr had said the plan was to see if Durant could clear some hurdles that he hasn’t crossed during his recovery. Kerr said earlier in the series that Durant could return after completing one practice.
Meanwhile, Raptors backup Fred VanVleet expects to play Monday after he was hit in the face and bloodied late in Game 4. VanVleet was sporting a bandage covering stitches under his right eye. He also had swelling near the side of his nose and needed fresh dental work to repair a damaged tooth.

STERLING, Va. (AP) — President Donald Trump, his threatened Mexican tariffs now on the backburner, is looking to claim victory. But some of his Democratic challengers for the White House have criticized him for overselling a deal that mostly ramps up existing efforts.
Trump defended the agreement reached by U.S. and Mexican negotiators to head off the 5% tax on all Mexican goods that Trump had threatened to impose Monday as he tried to pressure the country to do more to stem the flow of Central American migrants across the U.S. southern border. But he also dangled the prospect Sunday of renewing his threat if the U.S. ally doesn’t cooperate to his liking.
Business leaders and many Republicans had urged Trump against the tariffs for economic and political reasons.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — O.J. Simpson says his life now is fine after 25 years living under the shadow of one of the United States’ most notorious murder cases.
The nearly 72-year-old ex-football star told The Associated Press in a phone interview he and his family won’t ever discuss the June 12, 1994, murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. He says “we don’t need to go back and relive the worst day of our lives.”
Simpson says he and his family have moved on and only focus on the positive. For him, that includes having two new knees, playing golf almost daily and living in Las Vegas, where he’s often posing for selfies with people still enamored by his celebrity.
Simpson was acquitted of the killings in 1995 but two years later lost a wrongful death case brought by the victims’ families. He has yet to pay off the $33.5 million judgment.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Top Democratic leaders may be in no rush to launch an impeachment inquiry but the party is launching a series of hearings this week on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report.
The slate of hearings on the Russia probe means lawmakers are picking up the pace on an investigation that some in the party hope leads to impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Democrats are trying to draw attention to allegations that Trump sought to obstruct a federal investigation, and they want to highlight his campaign’s contacts with Russia during the 2016 election.
They’ll lay the groundwork for an appearance from Mueller himself, despite his stated desire to avoid the spotlight.
The hearings will focus on the two main topics of Mueller’s report, obstruction of justice and Russian election interference.
JALALABAD, Afghanistan (AP) — The Islamic State group has lost its caliphate in Syria and Iraq but is expanding its footprint in the forbidding mountains of northeastern Afghanistan.
There, the group is recruiting new fighters and plotting attacks in the United States and other Western countries. Nearly two decades after the U.S.-led invasion, the extremist group is seen as an even greater threat than the Taliban because of its increasingly sophisticated military capabilities and its strategy of targeting civilians, both in Afghanistan and abroad.
Concerns run so deep that many have come to see the Taliban, who have also clashed with IS, as a potential partner in containing it.
A U.S. intelligence official based in Afghanistan says recent attacks in Kabul are “practice runs” for even bigger attacks in Europe and the United States.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s foreign minister has again threatened the United States over what he describes as an “economic war” launched by Washington against Tehran.
Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that the U.S. “cannot expect to stay safe” after launching its economic war.
He directly blamed President Donald Trump for the ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Zarif said: “Mr. Trump himself has announced that the U.S. has launched an economic war against Iran. The only solution for reducing tensions in this region is stopping that economic war.”
Zarif’s comments came during a news conference with visiting German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who had traveled to Tehran in an effort to ease tensions.
