Jamestown  (JRMC) – Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has announced that Anthony Gurrieri is the  most recent Legend Award recipient.

The Legend Award is the most prestigious distinction for a JRMC employee. The Legend Award recognizes employees who exceed expectations and make THE difference in the lives of those they serve.

JRMC Support Services & Emergency Preparedness Manager, Dane Grebel, nominated Gurrieri because of his willingness to be THE difference and help his coworkers out in a time of need to ensure patients had clean conditions and linen.

Grebel wrote, “It has been said the weather in the month of March can have both lion and lamb characteristics. When Mother Nature ultimately decided that Grebel would not be able to make it into work, Gurrieri stepped up. He navigated through the unplowed streets of Jamestown, being stuck momentarily on several occasions, but was able to retrieve three of his coworkers and bring them all safely into work. At the end of the workday, Gurrieri brought four of his coworkers back to their respective homes safely.

He was more than a difference maker. He was a legend.”

Gurrieri joined the JRMC team in 2015 and resides in Jamestown.

JRMC’s 350 employees cast anonymous votes to select each Legend Award winner.

MIAMI (AP) — The scene following Wednesday night’s debate was chaotic as the candidates dispersed into the spin room to try to frame the conversation following the main event.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, former Housing Secretary Julian Castro, Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, former John Delaney Rep. John Delaney and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar all appeared in person among the crowds of reporters gathered.

Castro, de Blasio and Booker, who each had standout moments during the debate, were mobbed by dozens of cameras and print reporters as they entered the room. Castro and de Blasio took victory laps, each telling reporters he was happy with how he drove the conversation.

Other campaigns, including a handful representing candidates not debating till Thursday, sent surrogates and advisers to drive talking points to the media.

CLINT, Texas (AP) — Immigrant advocates have asked a federal judge to issue an emergency order requiring immediate inspections and access for doctors at border detention facilities where they say children are languishing in filthy conditions.

The federal court filing Wednesday follows last week’s discovery of children in a Border Patrol facility in Clint, Texas who were locked up for weeks and tasked with caring for toddlers.

Lawyers say sleep-deprived, flu-stricken immigrant children are being crammed into frigid facilities that threaten to sicken more children. One doctor compared the locations to torture centers.

The attorneys are also asking for the prompt release of children to parents and close relatives.

The filing comes in a decades-old federal court case over detention conditions for immigrant children.

A message was sent to the Department of Homeland Security.

But they did try the swim, and the father and young daughter were swept away and drowned. Their bodies were found face down in the Rio Grande, a heartbreaking scene captured in a news photo showing the girl tucked inside her father’s shirt.

OSAKA, Japan (AP) — President Donald Trump is in Japan to meet with world leaders amid a flurry of international crises, tense trade negotiations and a mounting global to-do list.

Trump is attending the annual Group of 20 summit and then is going to South Korea where he’ll address the standoff with North Korea over its nuclear weapons program. Air Force One touched down at Osaka International Airport in a rainstorm ahead of high-stakes meetings with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, China’s Xi Jinping and a host of others at the gathering of the leaders world’s largest economies.

The visit comes days after Trump pulled back from the brink of armed conflict with Iran, and as he looks to de-escalate a year-long trade war with China. U.S. officials said Trump would also warn Putin against continued election meddling.

OSAKA, Japan (AP) — Japan is welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping to the G-20 summit as a sign of improving ties.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told reporters Thursday that Japan-China relations are on the recovery track and he hopes to further elevate them.

Relations between the two countries have sunken to their lowest in the past few years over territorial disputes involving islands in the East China Sea as well as Japan’s wartime actions.

Xi arrived in Osaka earlier Thursday to attend the summit that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will chair on Friday and Saturday.

Suga says he expects Abe and Xi will have constructive talks and dinner later Thursday.

Xi will also hold talks with President Donald Trump on Saturday, a meeting that is capturing a major attention amid their trade disputes.

Nearly a week after the latest sexual misconduct accusation against President Donald Trump, the story has largely landed with a thud.

Some see the muted response to author E. Jean Carroll’s accusation as the latest example of the divisive Politics of Trump: Either you support him or you don’t.

Larry Sabato, who directs the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, says Trump continues to be “exempt from the rules” that govern American politics.

He says Trump’s poll numbers haven’t changed much since the day he got elected.

After more than a dozen women came forward during Trump’s 2016 campaign with allegations of sexual misconduct years earlier, Trump called the women “liars.”

In denying Carroll’s accusation, Trump said she was “not my type.”
