The Corps of Engineers announced Tuesday,Sept 24,  that at the request of the Barnes County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, will sharply reduce flows at Baldhill Dam to aid in the search for Mark Davies.

Discharges were decreased Tuesday from around 1,800 cubic feet per second, or CFS, to 100 cfs, to be followed by a quick increase on Thursday, September 26, to more than 2,000 cfs. Lake Ashtabula is forecasted to increase 1.5 feet above its current elevation to 1,267.5 NGVD 29, while the Sheyenne River level drops. allowing searchers to comb the river bank.

Wednesday  morning the Sheyenne River level was just under six feet, down from nearly 10 feet before the release from the dam was made.

The public is urged to use caution near the Sheyenne and Lake Ashtabula during this time as currents and depths could change quickly.

Area residents  in Barnes, Ransom and Lamoure Counties are asked to still search through their properties and outbuildings for any signs of Davies or his vehicle, a Black 1999 GMC Yukon (ND License number 327 CCM.)

Previously reported:   Valley City  (CSi)  Law enforcement with assistance on Thursday continued the search for Mark Davies.   Officials say the searched area was north of Kathryn, North Dakota.  Property owners area asked to check their buildings and that hunters should be aware of possibly seeing him or his vehicle.

Davies has been missing and was last seen on August 23, in Kathryn. Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher  says  the search includes possibly locating any electronic information through banking and cell phone use.  Davies name is also entered into several national databases and so for there have been no “hits”.

Chief Hatcher previously said, his disappearance is suspicious, because family members told police Davie’s is always with his dog.  However, this time he left his home without his dog.

Police Chief Phil Hatcher says a report from Davies’s family said the last time friends or family members heard from him was on August 23 in Kathryn.

Hatcher says his disappearance is suspicious, because family members told police Davie’s is always with his dog.  However, this time he left his home without his dog.

Valley News Live reports a neighbor says the last text they got from him was around midnight, saying he was leaving Kathryn’s Bar and heading home.

The search, including with airplane assistance, continues, along with the investigation, by authorities.
