A generous, friendly, humorous man, Victor was quick to help out someone in need or visit, tease, and joke with anyone. He was talented in a variety of hands-on work: as a mechanic (Oliver and White tractors were his specialty), as a carpenter, as a mechanic for Direct Electric of Edgeley, and as a jack-of-all trades in many other fields. These skills served him well during his 27 years as custodian and maintenance man for the Edgeley Public School (1986-2013). For the past ten and a half years, Victor was proud to serve the people of LaMoure County as a county commissioner. In this capacity, he was a member of the LaMoure County Memorial Park board and the LaMoure County Museum board. For the museum board, Victor was instrumental in the design and construction of the new High Prairie Chapel on the museum grounds. In addition, Victor was a member of the Edgeley Lions Club and the Transfiguration Knights of Columbus.
Another source of pride for Victor was being a school bus and charter bus driver for 48 years, taking hundreds of students to school and to school activities for Edgeley Public School and Jamestown Public Schools. Most of these years of his bus driving were for Neis Bus Service of Edgeley.
Victor is survived by his wife, Bev Weigel, Edgeley, ND; siblings, Tony (Irene) Weigel, Edgeley, Lawrence (Jan) Weigel, Horace, ND, Raymond (Virginia) Weigel, Edgeley, twin sister, Marianne Cardwell, Fargo, ND, Robert (Sue) Weigel, Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Martha Weigel, Edgeley, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-law brothers and sisters.
