In 1988, he met Roxanne Speyers Grim and her family marrying her in 2002. Even though they married later into their relationship he was always family and loved by all.
Ernie enjoyed his job and all the wonderful co-workers he spent his day with. After retirement he was lucky enough to have good health for awhile and was able to ride motorcycle, go fishing and take care of grandkids plus enjoying life.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Roxie; brother, Delbert, Jamestown, ND; sister, Erma Hoff, Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Donna O’Brien, Mandan, ND, Doreen (Todd) Mullen, Lyman, ME; three step-children, Jamie Grim (Chuck Huwe) Fargo, ND, Brandon (Linda) Grim, Eugene, OR, Brian (Mary) Grim, Jamestown, ND; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Leona Weisser, Jamestown, ND; sisters-in-law, Tracy (Doug) Klein, Aberdeen, SD, Debbie and Denetta Speyers, Nicole Mittleider, all of Jamestown, ND, Annie (Jerry) Aberle, Clear Lake, SD; brother-in-law, Thomas Speyers, Jamestown, ND; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews; two very important fur babies, Pepper and Corbin and grand fur babies, Ruca and Gracie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts and uncles.
A special thank you to all the wonderful friends who made his days special and to the JRMC Hospice workers and what they did for Ernie and his family.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Eddy Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 27 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor James Naumann officiating. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery.
