(NDHP Report)   On Saturday, September 28th, at approximately 6:30 pm, a ND Highway Patrol vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle crash on I-29 near MM 35.50, about 1 ½ miles south of Colfax. The crash occurred in the construction zone along I-29. The northbound lanes of I-29 are under construction. I-29 north and southbound traffic are head to head in the southbound lanes of I-29.

The NDHP trooper was attempting to make a traffic stop in the construction zone. The patrol vehicle, a 2018 Dodge Charger, was traveling southbound on I-29. The trooper activated his emergency lights and was attempting to make a u-turn to stop a northbound motorist. While conducting the u-turn, the Charger was struck on the right side by a northbound 2003 GMC Yukon.

After the collision, the Charger entered the median. The Yukon became disabled across the northbound lane.

The two occupants of the Yukon were transported to Sanford Hospital in Fargo and were treated and released. The trooper was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. He was treated and released as well.
