Crary, ND (NDHP)– The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, on Thursday about 9:35-p.m., that a school bus carrying 25 juveniles, of Dunseith school volleyball team, and the driver, struck a moose roughly three miles east of Crary.
The 2019 International school bus was traveling west on Highway 2 when it struck the moose standing in the road. The bus received significant front-end damage.
The driver, 78 year-old driver Curtiss Halvorson of Dunseith was able to drive it safely to a stop. He was not injured. The report says he was wearing a seat belt.
Of 25 passengers that were on the bus, two were checked for possible injuries. They were found to be uninjured.
Assisting at the scene were the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office,and Lake Region Ambulance.
