Jamestown  (uj.edu)  The University of Jamestown Music Department is presenting its first annual Fall Faculty Recital on Sunday, October 13 at 2 p.m. in the Reiland Fine Arts Center’s DeNault Auditorium. The recital, which will last for about an hour, is free and open to the public.

“Although we have performed as a faculty before we have some new faculty members whose talents we want to share with the community.  We do hope to make this recital an annual event each fall – a fun way to kick off the academic year and to show our students that music making is a life-long passion!” said Dr. Richard Walentine, Chair of the Music Department and Professor of Voice.

Performing will be: Tayler Meier, tenor; Dr. Ken Jimenez, trumpet; Dr. Jason Kihle, marimba; Dr. Aaron McDermid, piano; Dr. Laura Lynch, French horn; Mr. John Clodfelter, piano; Dr. Richard Walentine, baritone.  Mr. Clodfelter, in addition to performing, will serve as collaborative pianist many of the other performers.

“We are excited to have Mr. Clodfelter on our faculty this year.  His breadth of experience as a collaborative pianist opens up amazing possibilities for our department.  Also new this year is Dr. Jason Kihle who will be directing the Jazz Band and Pep Band.  Dr. Kihle is a multi-talented percussionist and we are looking forward to some new programs under his direction,” said Dr. Walentine.

The Program

The Faculty will present a diverse selection of mostly modern works from composers such as Joseph Schwantner, Henry Cowell, Lowell Liebermann, and James Beckel. But there will also be pieces by the more traditional composers, Frédéric Chopin and Francesco Tosti.
