FORT COLLINS, Colo.  (uj,edu) — Carter Johnson (SO/Meeteetse, Wyo.) and Michael Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta) each scored twice while Cole McKechney (SR/Calgary, Alberta) added a goal and assisted on three others as the University of Jamestown hockey team defeated Colorado State University 7-2 Thursday night.

Jeremy McNeil (SR/Calgary, Alberta) also scored and had three assists as ten different Jimmies registered a point.

Johnson, McNeil, and Aidan Potas (FR/Fargo, N.D.) all scored in the first period as Jamestown took a 3-0 lead while outshooting the Rams 15-5.

Michael Pruss had both a power play and shorthanded goal in the second along with an even strength goal by McKechney to make it 6-0.

Colorado State erased the shutout 38 seconds into the third period, but Johnson answered with his second of the game with 8:01 to play. The Rams added a late goal to round out the scoring.

Dylan Haney (JR/Brandon, Manitoba), Trevor Okino (SR/Richmond, British Columbia), Tyler Chavez-Leech (JR/Red Deer, Alberta), Allan Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta), Ned Simpson (SR/Kitchener, Ontario), and Johnson also had assists for the Jimmies, now 11-3 this season. Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 20 saves.

UJ travels to Boulder, Colo., to play a weekend series against University of Colorado. Friday’s game time is set for 6:00 p.m
