Update… Jamestown (CSi) The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office reports, a 60 year old man reported missing Saturday night, has died after falling through ice about four miles east of Medina, on a flooded section of old 10 Highway . His UTV was reported abandoned on the ice with its lights on.
On Sunday Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said that the man was reported missing on Saturday and possibly had fallen through the ice. The accident may have happened on Monday or Tuesday last week, but the sheriff’s office was not contacted until about 3:25 p.m. Saturday, December, 7.
A search by the Stutsman County Dive & Rescue team’s underwater ROV Saturday until dark turned up nothing. When the search resumed Sunday his body was recovered about 10:30-a.m.
His UTV had not fallen through the ice. When the man began walking on the ice, he broke through the an area of minimal ice thickness and fell in.
His cause of death will be determined. His name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
Kaiser again cautions residents to not walk or drive on ice cover until colder temperature thicken the ice.
Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser reports that the accident at Country Grain Cooperative, involved a construction crane working on a grain elevator, about 1:20-p.m.
Kaiser says, a section of the crane’s boom slid off and fell, striking two people on the ground. One individual was pronounced dead at Jamestown Regional Medical Center and the other was airlifted to a Fargo hospital for treatment.

St. Paul (USACE) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is reducing outflows into the Sheyenne River at Baldhill Dam, located northwest of Valley City, North Dakota, from 800 cubic feet per second, or cfs, to 200 cfs, beginning Sunday, Dec. 8.
Outflows are being reduced so rock, or riprap, can be placed along the streambank in order to prevent erosion and protect existing power lines south of Valley City.
On Friday the current elevation of Lake Ashtabula was 1,264.7 feet and the temporary reduction in flows will have little effect on the overall winter drawdown progress.

Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society says while adopting animals is a year round activity at the shelter, giving them as surprise Christmas gifts is not a good idea.
On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, Humane Society President, Gary Sahr said, animals should be acclimated to a new household, to see if the animals would be a good fit, especially in the home as pet already living there. He suggests after Christmas, bringing your pet to the shelter to socialize with the dog or cat you’ve chosen to see if they get along.
Also with sub zero temperatures in the forecast next week, to not let pets outside for an extended period of time, adding that animals paw pads can freeze quickly, and to also keep that in mind when walking pets.
Keep pets away from electrical cords they may chew on, and some holiday plants are toxic if a pet may eat it.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Justice Department inspector general report is expected to say the FBI had a legitimate basis to open its investigation into ties between Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and Russia. It’s also expected to say senior law enforcement officials weren’t motivated by partisan bias. But it’s also likely to cite multiple errors during the investigation, including by an FBI lawyer suspected of altering a document related to the surveillance of a former Trump campaign aide. The report is being released Monday. Though highly anticipated, it’s not expected to quell the partisan battles surrounding the Russia investigation. Trump says the report “will be the big story!”
WASHINGTON (AP) — Pushing ahead with articles of impeachment, the House Judiciary Committee convenes Monday to formally receive the investigative findings against President Donald Trump as the White House mounts an aggressive attack on the proceedings. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler says he expects the committee to vote soon on charges against Trump that will likely focus on abuse of power on Ukraine and obstruction in the congressional inquiry. Trump says the hearing is a hoax. If the Judiciary Committee approves articles of impeachment by Friday that would set up a final impeachment vote in the days before Christmas.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea has again insulted President Donald Trump, calling him a “heedless and erratic old man” after he tweeted that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wouldn’t want to abandon a special relationship between the two leaders and affect the American presidential election by resuming hostile acts. A senior North Korean official said in a statement that his country wouldn’t cave in to U.S. pressure because it has nothing to lose and accused the Trump administration of attempting to buy time ahead of an end-of-year deadline set by Kim for Washington to salvage their nuclear talks.
WHAKATANE, New Zealand (AP) — A New Zealand volcanic island has erupted in a tower of ash and steam while dozens of tourists were exploring the moon-like surface, killing five people and leaving many more missing. The site was still too dangerous hours later for police and rescuers to search for the missing. Both New Zealand and overseas tourists were among the injured. Most of the 18 who survived were injured and some had suffered severe burns. Already people are questioning why tourists were still able to visit the island after scientists recently noted an uptick in volcanic activity.
