Ronald “Ron” Ray Rempfer, 86, of Mounds View, MN, died on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St Paul, MN.

Ron was born on August 10, 1933 in Zeeland, ND to George and Lydia Rempfer, the youngest of 7 children. After finishing school, Ron served with distinction in the United States Air Force where he reached the rank of Master Sergeant. On May 30, 1959 he married Bernette Wolf in San Fernando, California, and soon after he and Bernette returned to ND to make their home in Jamestown where Ron owned and operated Ron’s Barber Shop for more than 40 years. Ron and Bernette welcomed their only child, Mary Katherine in January of 1965.

An active member of the Jamestown community, Ron was a longtime member of the American Legion, the Elks, the Eagles, the Knights of Columbus and the ND Barber’s Association. Ron was known as a good neighbor and friend to countless people in the community. Never too busy to stop for good conversation about hunting, sports or the weather, the constant smile on Ron’s face made everyone feel like he had the best joke to share. Throughout Ron’s life, he made friends easily, enjoyed sports and liked to kid everyone. His love of travel with friends and family led to many vacation adventures and his soft heart made room to include many of his nieces and nephews on special trips.

When he retired, Ron followed a longtime dream to move to Mesa, Arizona, where he and Bernette spent fifteen wonderful years enjoying warm winters and making new friends and memories. They returned to ND and eventually moved to Fargo until relocating one more time to Mounds View, MN, to be closer to their daughter, Mary. Ron was a favorite among the residents of his new home at Bel Rae Senior Living, where he was usually the first one out the door each morning to read the paper and greet the employees on their way into work.

Ron is survived by the love of his life Bernette, beloved daughter Mary Rempfer and friend, Scott Wikstrom (Shoreview, MN), grand dogs Marshall and Gibson, and many relatives and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly and feel blessed that he was a part of their lives.

Memorial service will be at 10:30AM (visitation begins at 9:30AM) Friday, May 29, 2020 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo, ND. Light lunch to be served after the service. Memorials in Ron’s memory can be made to Our Lady of Peace Hospice, St. Paul, MN.
