Jerome Johnson, 73, Valley City, ND passed away at his home on January 13, 2020. The funeral service for Jerome will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valley City. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00.
Jerome Merton Johnson was born September 15, 1946 at Valley City, ND the son of Birger and Viola (Olstad) Johnson. Jerome married Harriet Dian Jorgenson September 3, 1965 and they resided in Valley City, ND. Harriet was the love of his life, she passed away May 6, 2014.
Jerome attended King School, a rural school along the Kathryn road, and went to College High in Valley City. Jerome worked for Enterprise Mfg. in Valley City where he learned his welding skills. He then went to work for Tennefes Construction and while he was there attended an Advanced Pipeline Welding school in Cleveland, Ohio. When Collins Construction purchased Tennefes Const., he continued on with them as a welder and mechanic. The family then traveled all over North Dakota and South Dakota doing road work. In 1975 they purchased a house on Old 10 road and Jerome started his own business of Johnsons Welding. He built a shop and along with a service truck started doing welding and repair work for area farmers and businesses in Valley City. He continued his love of welding for many years until health issues forced him to retire.
Jerome is survived by a daughter, Karla (Shawn) Ranisate and a son, Boyd (Lisa) Johnson, Valley City. Grandchildren are Garrett and Allison Johnson, Jessica Ranisate of Valley City. Kory Johnson and Samantha Ranisate of Fargo and Karly Hess, Moorhead, MN. Great-grandchildren are Kylie, Halle and Reier. He is preceded in death by his wife Harriet, his parents Birger and Viola Johnson and one sister Nadene Blaufuss.
