(AP)  Republicans will have an intraparty race for North Dakota treasurer. Rep. Daniel Johnston of Kathryn and Rep. Tom Beadle of Fargo have announced runs for the post that’s being vacated by Republican Kelly Schmidt, who was first elected in 2004.

Johnston was first elected to the House in 2016. Beadle has served in the Legislature since 2010. No Democrats have announced bids for the office.

The state treasurer is custodian of the state’s funds and sits on several state boards, such as the State Historical Board, State Investment Board and State Canvassing Board. The treasurer’s annual salary is about $110,600.
