One larger mass and two smaller masses were removed. We want to thank everyone who donated to his surgery and everyone who was thinking of him and rooting for him ! I will continue to keep you updated.”

On another note, the Potato Bar and silent auction fundraiser has been postponed, with a make up date to be announced.

Jamestown  (CSi)  The community is invited to financially support surgery on a two year old Labrador German Sheppard mix dog at the James River Humane Society.

On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2 Board Member Jay Nitschke said “Liberty,” has to have a life-threatening pancreatic tumor removed.  She said a veterinarian in Casselton will perform the surgery, after having studied the surgical procedure, scheduled to be performed on March 12th this year.

Jay said, “Liberty,” was taken from another shelter and was to be euthanized, and was in poor health.

After getting better, he was diagnosed with the tumor.

Those wishing to donate to the expenses for the costly surgery, may send donations to the James River Humane Society at post office box, 636, Jamestown, ND  58401, or stop by the shelter at the I-94 Bloom Exit.

Jay said a fundraiser for the shelter will provide a rose and a cat toy delivered to your home on Valentines Day.  Proceeds from a $13 donation for the “Kiss a Cat,” and “Hug a Dog,” promotion will go toward general shelter operations.  Stop by the shelter with the donation/order, by February 12.

Jay also noted that among the 12 dogs at the shelter, available for adoption are four abandoned puppies, and around 20 cats available for adoption.

A reminder, during cold weather to make sure your animal’s paws are protected from the cold ground including sidewalks and streets, and ice melt chemicals.

The James River Humane Society is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit, open everyday from 9-am to 11:30-am and 5:30-pm to 7-pm, or by appointment.
