(ESPN) As the Minnesota Wild look to make a postseason push, the team has fired Bruce Boudreau, general manager Bill Guerin announced Friday.

Boudreau departs after three-plus seasons and a 158-110-35 record. Minnesota made the playoffs in 2017 and 2018 but was knocked out in the first round each time.

Boudreau’s dismissal comes amid a stretch in which the team has gone 7-3-1 to climb within three points of the second wild-card berth in the Western Conference. They suffered a 4-3, shootout loss to the New York Rangers on Thursday in Boudreau’s final game.

Minnesota next plays Saturday when it hosts the San Jose Sharks.
