Dolores was born to Alex and Rose Seitz on January 24, 1929 near Lemmon, SD. She was one of thirteen children.

Dolores attended grade school in Kensal, ND and graduated high school from Jamestown Academy.

Dolores married Art Mathisen, of whom three sons were born. Jeff, Jim and Douglas. Art passed away in 1994. Dolores married Glen Plaisted in 2002 and they enjoyed traveling to Glen’s barbershop quartets and spending winters in Arizona.

Dolores leaves behind her two sons; Jeff (Patty) Mathisen, from Bismarck, ND; Jim (Kate) Mathisen, from Springfield, MO; three grandchildren, Zac Mathisen, Melissa Mathisen and Austin Mathisen; four great-grandchildren, Carsen, Rylen, Hadlee and Piper.

Dolores also leaves behind her sisters, Bert Murphy, Aggie Macal, Marilyn Seitz, Mary Ellen Frey, Virginia Prendergast and brother Bobby (Angie) Seitz.

Those preceding her in death are her husbands, Art Mathisen and Glen Plaisted, her infant son Douglas and her grandson Michael Mathisen. Also preceding her were her brothers Daniel Seitz, Reinhold Seitz, Herman Seitz, Henry Seitz, Jim Seitz, Dennis Seitz and many other relatives.

Dolores raised her children and then worked various jobs in Cooperstown, helping out whenever and wherever she could. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always “Nana D.” to them.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings the family will be holding a private family service for Dolores. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements with Eddy Funeral Home.
