BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota State Patrol says a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 94 near Bismarck caused a crash that took his life and injured five others, including three young children.

The patrol says the 49-year-old Bismarck man was driving a Chevy pickup truck westbound on the interstate about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when he crashed into a Ford pickup with five people inside, including children ages 4, 6 and 8.

The driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene. Those in the Ford truck were taken to a Bismarck hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available. The crash four miles east of Menoken shut down eastbound traffic for more than two hours.
