GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The man accused of killing his mother and a Grand Forks police officer made a court appearance for the first time since he was released from the hospital after a shootout with law enforcement. Salamah Pendleton made his appearance remotely from Grand Forks County Correctional Center Monday. Pendleton is accused of killing 61-year-old Lola Moore and a 29-year-old officer, Cody Holte, during a shootout with law enforcement officers who had gone to his apartment to service eviction papers May 27. Pendleton’s lawyers, citing new evidence, asked the judge for more time to prepare for his preliminary hearing, which is now scheduled for August 7.
