Napoleon (NDHP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports on Sunday a vehicle crashed into a house after rear ending another vehicle around 10:46-p.m.
18 year-old Sophia Svanes of Kintyre was traveling on Highway 3, in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. She was rapidly accelerating when her vehicle rear-ended a 2015 Hyundai Veloster driven by a 17 year-old female from Napoleon. The force of the collision caused the Pontiac to leave the roadway and strike a house. The Hyundai came to rest in the roadway.
The homeowner was notified of the crash at 506 Broadway in Napoleon. Svanes was transported by Napoleon Ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck for non-life threatening injuries. The 17 year old and a 15 year old female, also from Napoleon in the Hyundai were not injured.
Svanes was cited for Driving Under the Influence and Reckless Driving. The crash remains under investigation.
The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Napoleon PD, Logan SO, Napoleon FD, Napoleon Ambulance.
