bigflagJamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — A ceremony honoring the nation’s flag, and an official flag retirement ceremony are planned for Flag Day June 14, 2013, at 7-p.m., at Fort Seward in Jamestown.

Following a short program the Girl Scouts of Jamestown will conduct the retirement ceremony.

The ceremony is sponsored by the Patriotic Council of Jamestown, which will serve refreshments and cookies after the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.

People who have old, faded or torn flags can bring them to the ceremony for proper disposal, or drop them off at the All Vets Club, 116 1st Street East in Jamestown by June 12th.

Fort Seward is located on the northwest hill of Jamestown, on U.S Highway 281.

The Patriotic Council is made up of representatives of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Vets, 40 & 8, and AMVETS and their Auxiliaries.
