Jamestown (CSi) On Saturday, Great River Energy presented a check to the City of Jamestown representing a $250,000 cash gift to the purchase of the Jamestown City Fire Department’s new Ladder truck, the largest cash donation ever received by the City of Jamestown.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich proclaimed February 13, 2021 as Great River Energy day in Jamestown, saying the city, appreciates the contributions from the public and businesses in the region and the anticipated funding from the state of North Dakota.
The GRE contribution brings the amount raised from public donations so far to about $478,000 from at least 33 donors.
Jamestown City Fire Chief, Jim Reuther said the truck is being used region-wide, when a need is present
GRE Business Director Al Christianson said, “We are proud to be here. Since we came to Jamestown a dozen years ago we’ve been treated as partners. It made sense for GRE to be part of this.”
GRE operates Spiritwood Station, a steam and electrical generating plant at Spiritwood,Energy Park Association’s Industrial park. and operates Dakota Spirit AgEnergy.

Members of the North Dakota Legislature were also on hand Saturday thanking GRE.
