ABERDEEN, S.D.  (UJ) — Kat Miska (JR/Pequot Lakes, Minn.) pitched her second career no-hitter and broke her single-game strikeout record as the University of Jamestown softball team defeated Dickinson State (N.D.) 1-0 Saturday at the Fairfield Inn & Suites PC Dome Classic.

Miska (2-1) fanned 18 Blue Hawk batters, besting the previous UJ single-game record of 15 which she set earlier this season.

Katie Reisdorfer (JR/Fresno, Calif.)’s third-inning solo home run provided the only offense, as the Jimmies had just three other hits besides Reisdorfer’s homer.

The win was the third straight for the Jimmies against the Blue Hawks.

UJ 14, Dakota State 2 (5 innings)
Bats came alive for the Jimmies in Saturday’s second game, as UJ racked up 20 hits off of three Dakota State pitchers.

Zito’s double scored Lauren Diemert (FR/West Fargo, N.D.) and Mariah Wick (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) to make it 7-0, then Zito scored on a Megan Neiles (FR/Winnipeg, MB) double. Following a Trojan pitching change, Jenna Remenar (FR/Vancouver, Wash.) doubled to bring in Neiles. Sydney Prussia (JR/Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Molly Haley (FR/Atwater, Calif.) singled to load the bases, then Fisher connected for a bases-clearing triple to make it 12-0. Lorgian Steuben came home on a Dakota State error for UJ’s 14th and final run of the game.

Merchant went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits and struck out four.

Prussia was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored twice. Zito and Fisher had three hits each while Remenar, Diemert, Morgan Geiszler, and Mariah Wick finished with two hits.
