Hours For Lighting Fireworks Jamestown

Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jun 28. 2013) — Authorities remind Jamestown residents fireworks may only be detonated in Jamestown city limits from 9 a.m. to midnight June 27 through July 3 and on July 4 fireworks may be shot off 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on July 5.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says anyone shooting fireworks off after the designated hours could be ticketed for violating the city ordinance, which is  a Class B misdemeanor, and carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail and $1,000 fine.

City Fire Chief Jim Reuther adds, safety should be the top priority while handling and shooting fireworks, noting that grass will still burn when it’s green, and suggests having a fire extinguisher nearby when using fireworks.
