Fargo  (KFGO) – A Bismarck man has been charged with felony counts of attempted simple assault on a peace officer and preventing arrest following a confrontation with West Fargo Police.

Wednesday night, officers responded to a report from someone who spotted a person wanted on outstanding warrants and possibly armed.

Officers encountered 29-year old Anthony Olson on foot. He initially refused police orders to show his hands but then showed a brass knuckle knife in one of his hands. Still not complying with police orders, officers used a Taser and a beanbag-style shotgun. Not obeying officers and after being hit in the leg with a beanbag round he ran, still armed with the knife. Olson eventually stopped on 19th Avenue West and laid on the ground. He then used his knife in a slashing movement toward one of the officers, telling them to shoot him.

A Taser was used again and Olson was subdued, treated for self-inflicted wounds, and booked in the Cass County Jail.
