Jamestown, ND, (KCSi-T.V. News June 28, 2013) — As a benefit to the community, Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) has coordinated with the 7th District Medical Society of North Dakota and Healthcare Environmental Services to have a community sharps drop-off location on the campus of JRMC. This is a service the community of Jamestown has not previously had and will be the first community sharps disposal kiosk available in the state of North Dakota.

 

Sharps disposed at the community drop-off kiosk must be packaged in a tightly capped plastic container two liters or less in size, most soda, sports drink and juice bottle less than two liters should fit easily in the deposit drawer. Materials allowed in the sharps kiosk include used needles, testing devices such as lancets, and other medical supplies that would be considered sharps (device or object used to puncture or lacerate the skin). Materials not allowed in the drop-off containers include garbage, chemicals or medications.

The drop-off kiosk is located just off the road on the south side of the main building on the JRMC campus. The kiosk is a black mailbox style container. To learn more about the community sharps disposal kiosk contact JRMC Quality at (701) 925-1050.
