Jamestown def Mayville State 25-20,25-21,25-23
MAYVILLE, N.D. (UJ) — The top-ranked University of Jamestown women’s volleyball team won for the seventh straight match, defeating Mayville State University 3-0 Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-20, 25-21, and 25-23.
The Jimmies improve to 22-1 overall and will play at Dakota State (S.D.) University Wednesday at 7 p.m. Mayville State falls to 17-9.
Kalli Hegerle (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) led UJ’s offensive attack, hitting .500 for the match on 14 kills in 24 attempts. Anna Holen (JR/LaMoure, N.D.) added nine kills while Kadyn Mehring (SO/Carrington, N.D.), Taylor Sabinash (JR/Kensal, N.D.), and Corina Huff (SR/Breezy Point, Minn.) all had eight kills.
Jackie Meiklejohn (JR/Dickey, N.D.) had 22 assists and Megan Gaffaney (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) 17 as the Jimmes hit .254 for the match.
Sydney Ellingson (SR/Langdon, N.D.) led the defense with 28 digs followed by Anna Holen with 18.
Jamestown had a 51-32 advantage in kills and outdug the Comets 78-58.
Following Wednesday’s match at Dakota State, UJ will host Dickinson State (N.D.) University on March 25.
