GAFFNEY, S.C. (UJ) — The fifth-ranked University of Jamestown men’s volleyball team won its eighth straight match Saturday night, coming back from two sets down to defeat NCAA Division II Limestone University 3-2. Set scores were 14-25, 23-25, 27-25, 25-19, and 15-9.
Jamestown, now 14-2 this season, hosts Morningside (Iowa) College Friday and Saturday at Harold Newman Arena.
Samuel Jackman (SO/St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba) had 24 kills, Derek Correa (FR/Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) passed out 52 assists,and Braden Neumann (JR/Costa Mesa, Calif.) posted 22 digs, all of which set new UJ records for a five-set match.
Derek Owens (FR/Andover, Minn.) added 11 kills and Tanner Woods (FR/Huntington Beach, Calif.) 10 as the Jimmies broke a program record with 63 kills. Austin Jacob (FR/Houston, Texas) hit a team-best .462 on 13 attempts.
Limestone narrowly outhit UJ .235-.213 and made six fewer attack errors (30-24). Jamestown had a 54-50 edge in digs and had two more service aces (6-4.)
