Jamestown hit .353 in the first set and made just three errors in 17 swings to take the first set. Morningside hit -.188 in the opener with only three kills. A balanced offensive attack was the key for the Jimmies, as Austin Jacob (FR/Houston, Texas), Tanner Woods (FR/Huntington Beach, Calif.), Caylor Cox (FR/Helena, Mont.), and Samuel Jackman (SO/St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba) each had a pair of kills. Five Mustang service errors and four aces also helped UJ.

Five different Jimmies–Meyer, Cancel, Jackman, Clark Steele (JR/Lake Forest, Calif.), and Ian Stanley (FR/Van Nuys, Calif.)–posted two kills each in the closing set. Despite making six service errors, Jamestown benefitted from seven attack errors by the Mustangs.

Woods led UJ with six kills, followed by Cancel, Jackman, and Meyer with five each. No Jimmie finished with a negative hitting percentage, and Meyer was nearly perfect, hitting .833 on six attempts.

Derek Correa (FR/Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) assisted on 28 of Jamestown’s 30 kills, and Neumann ended with four of UJ’s 11 aces.

Neumann also posted a team-high seven digs, with Correa adding five. Cancel had two solo blocks.
