Leslie Lloyd Guthmiller, 95, of Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, March 21, 2021 at his home in Jamestown, under hospice care surrounded by his loving family.Leslie was born December 9, 1925, in Jamestown, the son of Fred and Katie (Koenig) Guthmiller.  He was raised on a farm in Sydney Township and attended school at Sydney School #2, graduating from the 8th grade in 1940.  Later in life he attained his GED.  Les married Bernice Rose Hins on June 12, 1955 at the Congregational Church at Medina, ND.  They moved to Lenton Township and farmed there until 1960 when the moved to Jamestown.  Les worked as a bulk truck driver for Westland Oil Company until 1966 when he went to work for the Eddy Funeral Home until retiring due to health in 1980.

Les was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown.  There he was baptized in 1926, confirmed in 1940, served as a Deacon on the church council, ushered, and taught Sunday school for many years.  He served on the Lenton Township board for 3 years.  Les volunteered at Hi-Acres Manor/Eventide for over 25 years.  He also volunteered at RSVP, American Heart Association, Anne Carlsen Center for Children, and St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Les enjoyed making crafts from yearn and beads.

Leslie is survived by his son, Stephen Guthmiller, Jamestown; two daughters, Deborah Guthmiller and Charlotte Guthmiller, Jamestown; two grandsons, Jason Guthmiller, Grand Forks, ND and Matthew Guthmiller (Kayla Gutzmer), Fargo, ND; two sisters, Helen Hagel, West Fargo, ND and Margaret (Jerome) Johnson, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary; seven brothers, John, Harry, Albert, Richard, Fred Jr., James, and Edward; daughter-in-law, Dawn Guthmiller.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Lucas Holsten officiating.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown.

Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina.
