(playnorthstar.com) – The North Star Athletic Association announced its seventh baseball weekly honors edition Monday.
Charlie Patterson of Bellevue (Neb.) was selected as the Pitcher-of-the-Week. JT Reed of Valley City State (N.D.) was named as the Player-of-the-Week.
North Star Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week
Charlie Patterson – Bellevue (Neb.) – 6’0” – Junior – pitcher – Eugene, Ore. – Patterson tossed seven scoreless innings as Bellevue (Neb.) collected a 5-0 victory over Mayville State (N.D.). He limited the Comets to three hits and recorded five strikeouts in the game. The Bruins went 2-2 record in the four-game series with Mayville State.
North Star Athletic Association Baseball Player-of-the-Week
JT Reed – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5’9” – Junior – outfielder – Greenfield, Wis. – Reed batted .538 with 3-run home run, a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .647 on-base percentage as Valley City State (N.D.) went 2-1 record for the week. He was 4-of-4 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs, and two stolen bases in VCSU’s 9-2 victory over Mayville State (N.D.). He also went 3-of-6 in the second game of the series with a home run and four RBIs, earning a doubleheader split
with Dakota State (S.D.) after a 14-8 win.
Valley City State (N.D.) swept the weekly honors. Amber Stewart was selected as the Pitcher-of-the Week, while here teammate Makenzee Stone was chosen as the Player-of-the-Week.
– Stewart picked up a pair of wins as Valley City State (N.D.) went 3-0 record at Dakota State (S.D.). She pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings with nine strikeouts in her only start of the weekend. She also pitched 5 2/3 innings in relief, giving up two runs (one unearned) on three hits. For the week, Stewart worked 10 innings and limited the Trojans to two runs (one unearned) on six hits. She struck out a total of 14 batters in the game.
– Stone had three mult-hit games at Dakota State (S.D.) as Valley City State (N.D.) went 3-0 record. She had two triples and drove in eight RBIs and swiped two bases. For the week, Stone batted .700 (7-of-10 at-bats) and scored five runs. She recorded a slugging percentage of 1.100 and reached on base by a walk three tims.
