ABERDEEN, S.D.  (UJ) — Karl Gatiramu (SO/Nairobi, Kenya) recorded his first collegiate hat trick as the University of Jamestown men’ soccer team defeated Presentation College 3-0 Wednesday evening at the PC Dome.

Jamestown finishes the regular season with a record of 8-9 and will play at No. 23 Hastings (Neb.) on Saturday in the quarterfinals of the GPAC postseason tournament at 1 p.m. Wednesday’s match was an exhibition for the Saints.

Gatiramu took an Eric Fairtlough (SR/Varese, Italy) pass and beat the PC defense in the 12th minute for a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the 71st minute, when Gatiramu received a pass from Kevin Ndeti (SR/Nairobi, Kenya) and found the back of the net to double the UJ advantage. Just 50 seconds later, Gatiramu completed the hat trick with an assist from Nate Vrchota (SO/Baldwin, Wis.).

Alex Hamer (JR/Solihull, England) and Mateo Salazar (FR/Basalt, Colo.) combined on the clean sheet. Hamer stopped the only Saint shot on goal, which came in the first half. The Jimmies had 10 total shots, six of which were on goal.
