(CSi) The Jamestown Marksmanship Education Range (JMER) has brought to the Stutsman County Commission a possible lease agreement to build a gun range in the county for 27.9 acres, with the land located at the east side of Jamestown Reservoir.
On Tuesday, JMER President Keith Domke approached the Stutsman County Commission about a possible lease agreement for 27.9 acres of land on the east side of the reservoir.
Domke pointed out that the plan includes building an indoor recreational shooting and education facility of about 36,000 square feet of land just south of the ND Game & Fish Department office.
Domke added that it would not affect any amenities in the area including the walking path and landscaping.
Donations for the project would go toward funding, through the Game & Fish Department, which are used to build shooting ranges.
Domke said the cost could exceed $3 million based on similar projects.
Commission Chairman Mark Klose said commissioners would like to know an estimate, needed before the project can move forward.
Anyone with questions about the project can contact Keith Domke at 701-320-6983 or email keith.domke@gmail.com.
