Jamestown  (CSi)  On Friday the Stutsman County Commission held a special meeting reviewing  the tax abatement request on the ADM soybean crushing plant.

Commission Chairman Mark Klose pointed out that questions need to be answered, before the June 15 Commission meeting including water usage at the ADM plant.

ADM Senior Tax Manager Richard Dye reported that they would not exceed what the previous Cargill site was using, saying, it would acquire six water permits from Cargill.”

Another issue being addressed is traffic at theSpiritwood Energy Park with the new facility.

Others raising questions are  Spiritwood Township,  Barnes County North school, Jamestown Rural Fire Department, with the effect the tax abatement would have on each, along with the length of the term.

ADM’s request is to  have $200,000 payments in lieu of taxes for 20 years rather than property taxes estimated at about $600,000 annually.
