Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society reminds everybody to keep their pets safe, both with the oppressive heat, and with fireworks being set off for the 4th of July celebrations.
On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Board Member, Jay Nitschke said, pavement heat can reach upwards of 105 decrease that can lead to severe injury to the animals paws. Walk the pets when the pavement cools.
Keep the animals in the shade, and supply them with plenty of fresh water. She suggests keeping the pets at home and not bring them to the fair, as it can become stressing for them.
She added that pets can become scared with the loud fireworks, and for the most part keep them inside, and comfort them, when they become afraid of the load noises.
On other topics, Jay said, the Rummage Sale is planned at the shelter on Saturday July 10, starting at 10-a.m. with a wide variety of items to support the shelter’s operations. Those wishing to donate items may drop them off at the James River Humane Society located off the Bloom I-94 Exit, the day before on July 9.
Jay highlighted three dogs available for adoption. Penelope is a female husky-sheppard mix, Ty is a male pitbull mix, and Tanner is a male husky-sheppard mix.
The shelter has 11 dogs and around 20 cats available for adoption.
Call 701-0252-0747 for more information on how to access and visit the shelter, still with limited public access.
