Jamestown (CSi) Frontier Village is seeing a large increase in tourists so far this year.
On Wednesday’s Wayne Byers Show on CSi Cable 2, Tourism Director, Searle Swedlund said, tourist traffic through the Village has been steady, starting with Memorial Day Weekend, this year.
He said compared to 2019, visitors to the Village has increase by 18 percent. He adds that vendor sales are up as well.
He said the National Buffalo Museum has seen similar increases.
A vendor is still be sought for the Frontier Village, General Store. Anyone interested can contact Jamestown Tourism at 701-251-9145.
Searle said an Open House date will be announced in August at the Village.
He pointed out that the Jamestown City Council has approved the Villages improvements.
He adds that the Railroad Parkette construction has started, just inside the gate to the right, where the thresher was located. Rail cars have been ordered to arrive in about a month as track work continues with planning assistance by BNSF Railroad. He said it’s hopeful the Railroad Parkette will be operational by September this year. Funding has been provided by the Jamestown Eagles Club.
He said the thresher has been relocated just outside of Jamestown and is on display.
He added that planning for Bison World continues with a contingent from Jamestown to approach the state with additional information to obtain additional funding from North Dakota, possibly with additional dollars from the Legacy Fund.
