Ronald Legler – Saturday Sept 11, 2021

Ronald Legler, 93 of Jamestown died on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Eventide at Hi Acres Manor.

He was born on march 12, 1928 in Jamestown, ND, son of Wilbert and Kate (Mulinex) Legler.

Ronald grew up on the home farm in Bloom Township, attended country school and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1946. He attended NDSU. In June 1948, he joined the National Guard, Battery C 188th Field Artillery at Jamestown. The unit was called to active-duty January 1951, and he served until May 1952 at Camp Rucker in Alabama. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal.

He married Lenora Roemmich on June 15, 1955. They established a farmstead in Fried Township. He retired from farming in 1995 and continued to live on the farm until 2013, when they moved to Jamestown.

Ronald was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on a number of boards. He was a member of the North Dakota Farmers Union board, and Fried Township board. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lenora; daughter, Colleen (Roger) Mehrer of Plymouth, MN; son, Russell (Beth Winkelhake) of Freeport, TX; two grandsons; Philip (Sara) Mehrer of Plymouth and David (Quinn Keller) Mehrer of Chilcago, IL; two great-grandsons, Warren Mehrer and Walker Mehrer, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Kate Legler; siblings and their spouses: Victor (Marlys) Legler, Myrna (Dick) Bultema, and Lois (Jack) Rose.

Masks are recommended. The funeral service will be live-streamed by First United Methodist Church.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, September 17, 2021 with visitation to start an hour prior at First United Methodist Church with pastor Marty Toepke-Floyd officiating.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are in the care of Eddy Funeral Home.
