SIOUX CITY, Iowa–   (UJ)  Jona Fischer scored the game-winning in the 104th minute as No. 22 Morningside University defeated the University of Jamestown men’s soccer team Saturday night.

Shots were 11-8 in favor of Morningside, with five of the Mustangs’ shots on target. The Jimmies’ first shot on goal did not come until the 92nd minute when Diego Valle (SR/Yucaipa, Calif.)’s attempt was stopped by Bjarne Huth.

Hendrik Romahn (JR/Osterburg, Germany) (101st) and Valle (102nd) had scoring chances in the second overtime, but Huth turned them away. A third shot by Aaron Pike (SR/Milton Keynes, England) went high following Valle.

It was the second straight match that UJ went into double overtime, and the third overall this season. The Jimmies are now 1-1-1 in those contests.

After starting the season with six straight road contests, Jamestown (2-3-1 overall, 1-1 GPAC) plays its home opener on Thursday against Hastings (Neb.) College at 7:30 p.m.
