VCSU    The 18th annual James D. Ployhar Honor Band will perform in Vangstad Auditorium on the Valley City State University campus on Friday, Oct. 1. Fifty-three students selected from 10 schools from across the state will perform a variety of classical and modern band literature, featuring two selections arranged by James Ployhar.

“The support shown for the event has been tremendous,” said Jerrold Heide, director of the Ployhar festival and chair of the VCSU Department of Music. “After a year in which we were limited to a chamber ensemble only due to COVID-19 considerations, directors worked with students to submit the second-highest total of auditions we’ve ever received. This year students will be attending from across the state, from as far west as Mohall. We are so grateful for the continued support for the event, and are looking forward to once more welcoming a full band onto the campus.”

The 7:30 p.m. concert is open to the public and admission is free. Contact the VCSU Music Department at 701-845-7272 for additional information.
