ORANGE CITY, Iowa (UJ) — The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team was kept off the scoreboard Saturday afternoon, losing 4-0 to No. 23 Northwestern College in GPAC action.
Jamestown, now 3-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference, host Waldorf (Iowa) in a non-conference matchup Tuesday at 5 p.m.
James Bolger gave the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 33rd minute. Caden Williamson (JR/Rapid City, S.D.) had the Jimmies’ first chance at goal in the 9th minute but his shot went high over the crossbar. Frankie Parkinson (FR/Bournemouth, England)’s shot in the 34th minute was saved by Northwestern keeper Ezekiel Foltz, the only shot on goal for UJ in the opening 45 minutes.
Joshua Wingfield made it 2-0 in the 60th minute, then Marco Alessio gave NWC a three-goal lead in the 65th minute. Stan van den Beld rounded out the scoring by converting a penalty kick in the 88th minute.
Shots ended 12-6 in favor of the Red Raiders, and the home team also had a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
Tuesday’s home match against Waldorf will begin a stretch of three matches in four days, with UJ going to Presentation College on Tuesday and hosting Concordia (Neb.) on Saturday.
