Box Score

Jamestown  (UJ)  University of Jamestown men’s soccer team had its two-match winning streak stopped Saturday night in a 3-0 loss to Concordia (Neb.) University at the Jimmie Turf Field.

Jamestown, now 5-5-2 overall and 3-3-1 in the GPAC, is on the road Wednesday at Mount Marty (S.D.) University.

A torrential downpour provided the backdrop for Saturday’s match as the Jimmies looked for their first win against the Bulldogs since joining the GPAC.

Concordia took a 1-0 lead on a Yessine Bessaies goal in the 40th minute. The Bulldogs had 13 shots to the Jimmies’ seven, but Alex Hamer (SR/Solihull, England) saved three of the four shots he faced on target.

As the field became more and more waterlogged, two more goals by the visitors proved to be the difference. David Moreno’s header in the 52nd minute made it 2-0, then Martin Herrera scored in the 55th on a free kick for a 3-0 lead.

UJ’s only shot on target in the second half came in the 71st minute by Frankie Parkinson (FR/Bournemouth, England).

Hamer finished with four saves as did Concordia keeper Gabriel Mendoza.
