About the play: Despite the title, this play is actually a hilarious comedy! Dr. Cecelia Monahan has a serious problem. As a therapist who runs a support group for single and divorced women, she must listen to a number of relationship problems from her unusual cadre of patients as well as dealing with the unsolicited advice of her live in mother on subjects ranging from dating to cooking recipes. The doctor, however, is not above using some unorthodox methods of her own such as hiring out of work actors to role play with her patients. It is only when Cecelia meets the new substitute package delivery man that the doctor must learn to practice what she preaches!

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Next month’s abbreviated session of the North Dakota Legislature is intended to finish the job of legislative redistricting and to determine how federal coronavirus relief aid will be spent. But some individual lawmakers want to broaden the agenda. More than two dozen bills have been submitted ahead of the session planned for Nov. 8. Details of the legislation won’t be revealed until shortly ahead of the special or reconvened session. Several lawmakers have told The Associated Press that much of the legislation has come from a loosely organized group of ultraconservative legislators.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Two men have been arrested after a high speed chase that began in Minnesota and ended with a crash in North Dakota. Sheriff’s officials say a vehicle was traveling at nearly 100 mph in Clay County, Minnesota Wednesday afternoon. According to authorities, the driver stopped and he and a passenger switched seats before the vehicle took off again. Later the passenger got out and the driver sped away. The passenger was arrested and the driver who took off was taken into custody after crashing the vehicle north of West Fargo. He was taken to the hospital and arrested.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Federal authorities say a North Dakota man is charged with second-degree murder in the decapitation killing this month of a man at the victim’s home on the Navajo Nation in northwestern New Mexico. A criminal complaint alleges 28-year-old Shilo Aaron Oldrock attacked and decapitated the victim with an ax on Oct. 10 and burned his head in a wood stove before fleeing. A statement Thursday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Mexico says Oldrock is from Fargo. Federal officials didn’t release the victim’s full name, giving only his initials. A lawyer representing Oldrock did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A new monthly survey of bankers in rural parts of 10 Plains and Western states suggests strong economic growth continues in the region. The overall economic index for the region improved in October to 66.1 from September’s already-strong 62.5 reading. Any score above 50 suggests growth. Creighton University economist Ernie Goss said the area is benefitting from solid grain prices, continued low interest rates and growing agricultural exports. Goss said demand for workers is high but businesses are having trouble finding people to hire. Bankers from Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming were surveyed.

DICKINSON, N.D. (UJ) — Hannah DeMars (JR/Grand Rapids, MN) scored 21 points and Kia Tower (JR/Bigfork, MN) added 17 as the University of Jamestown women’s basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with a 65-58 win over Dickinson State University Thursday night.
The Jimmies won their fourth straight season opener under head coach Thad Sankey and will host Mayville State (N.D.) University Saturday at 5 p.m.
Jamestown led 37-34 at the half and held Dickinson State to just three points in the third quarter, taking a 15-point advantage into the fourth. The Blue Hawks made just one of 15 shots in the third quarter, missing all four of their three-point attempts while turning the ball over six times.
Tower’s free throw made it 59-40 UJ with 5:54 to play, giving the Jimmies their largest lead of the game. Jamestown had a 17-point lead with just under three minutes to play but Dickinson State closed on an 11-1 run to make the final score closer than the game appeared.
Madelyn Schmidt (FR/Tappen, ND) had five points off the bench while Noelle Josephson (SR/Ramsey, MN), Audrey Rodakowski (SO/Dickinson, ND), Jailyn Martinson (FR/Devils Lake, ND), and Megan Oswald (FR/Brownsdale, MN) each scored four. Jamestown will travel to Presentation (S.D.) College on Tuesday for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
The Jimmies opened up a 20-7 lead after a Will Cordes (FR/Shakopee, MN) basket at the 12:49 mark, but the Blue Hawks would get within nine points just under four minutes later. John Argue (SO/Houston, TX) gave UJ its biggest lead of the half with a basket to make it 46-28.
Walters’ second bucket of the second half put Jamestown ahead by 17 and it looked like the Jimmies were easily in control. However, DSU went on an 8-0 run over the next 1:08 to cut the UJ lead to single digits.
A 7-0 Jimmie run pushed the lead back to 16 points, but the Blue Hawks answered with 13 of the next 17 points to trail by only seven with 8:09 remaining. Cordes knocked down a three to start a 18-5 run capped off by a Walters three-point play that put the game out of reach. Jamestown shot 19-of-33 in the second half, finishing 37-of-70 for the game.

Dodgers stay alive
UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers are still alive in the NL Championship Series after snapping out of their hitting funk while getting an outstanding performance from six relievers.

Taylor had four of the Dodgers’ 17 hits, while Pollock, Trea Turner and Cody Bellinger had three apiece.
The LA bullpen limited Atlanta to three runs while striking out nine over 8 1/3 innings. Dodgers relievers allowed their team to rebound after starter Joe Kelly left with an injury in the first inning, shortly after giving up a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman.
Losing pitcher Max Fried (freed) was lifted with two out in the fifth, charged with five runs and eight hits.
Game 6 is Saturday in Atlanta.
Braves slugger Jorge Soler (soh-LEHR’) struck out as a pinch-hitter after being cleared for COVID-19.

BEIJING (AP) — An official Chinese newspaper says a troubled developer whose struggle to avoid a multibillion-dollar debt default is rattling global financial markets has wired $83.5 million to make an overdue payment to foreign bondholders. Evergrande Group’s struggle to reduce its 2 trillion yuan ($310 billion) of debt to comply with tighter official curbs on borrowing has prompted fears a default might trigger a financial crisis. Chinese officials have tried to allay investor fears by saying the debt problems can be controlled and there should be no impact on the financial industry. The Securities Times said Evergrande wired money to a Citigroup account for a bond payment that was due Sept. 23.
(AP) Shares are mostly higher in Europe after a mixed session in Asia. Benchmarks rose in Paris, London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Shares fell in Shanghai and Seoul. State media reports said China Evergrande Group, the troubled property developer whose cash crunch has rattled markets, made an overdue bond payment on Friday. On Thursday, the S&P 500 ended at a fresh record high after wobbling between gains and losses. Technology companies did well, despite a steep drop in IBM after the company reported disappointing revenue, pulling the Dow down a smidgen. The S&P 500 rose 0.3% and the Nasdaq added 0.6%. Tesla rose 3.3% after reporting record profits despite parts shortages and shipping delays.
BEIJING (AP) — China is saying there is “no room” for compromise or concessions over the issue of Taiwan, following a comment by U.S. President Joe Biden that the U.S. is committed to defending the island if it is attacked. A Foreign Ministry spokesperson reasserted China’s longstanding claim that the island is its territory. China has recently upped its threat to bring Taiwan under its control by force if necessary by flying warplanes near the island and rehearsing beach landings. The spokesperson says China’s strong determination to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity should not be underestimated.
MOSCOW (AP) — Russian emergency officials say 16 people have been killed by an explosion and fire at a gunpowder factory. The Emergency Situations Ministry said the explosion hit the factory in the Ryazan region, about 270 kilometers (about 167 miles) southeast of Moscow. One person was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to local officials. It said 170 emergency workers and 50 vehicles were involved in dealing with the fire. The Emergency Situations Ministry said the blast was caused by an unspecified failure during the production process.
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Two aid workers have confirmed that new Ethiopian military airstrikes forced a United Nations humanitarian flight to abandon its landing in the capital of the country’s Tigray region. If deliberate, Friday’s incident would be a sharp escalation in the intimidation tactics that Ethiopian authorities have used against aid workers amid an intensifying, year-long war in Tigray. An Ethiopian government spokesman said the airstrikes in the city of Mekele targeted a former military training center now being used as a “battle network hub” by rival Tigray forces. The spokesman, along with a military spokesman, didn’t immediately respond to questions about the U.N. flight.
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a movie set and killed the cinematographer. The director of the Western being filmed was wounded. Authorities are investigating. Santa Fe County Sheriff’s officials said cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza were shot Thursday on the set of “Rust” in the desert. A Baldwin spokesperson said there was an accident on the set involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks, though a charge without a metal projectile is unlikely to kill at a moderate distance. A Sheriff’s spokesman said detectives were investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged. The Santa Fe New Mexican reported Baldwin was seen outside the sheriff’s office in tears but attempts to get comment were unsuccessful.
