Update
Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown Rescue Squad and Jamestown Rural Fire Department were called to a rollover crash that occurred about 10:55 a.m., Wednesday at 34th Street Southeast, near the intersection of 77th Avenue Southeast.
Lt. Sheldon Mohr says when the Jamestown Rescue Squad arrived, about five miles west of Jamestown, a local farmer with a telehandler with forks and front-wheel assist tractor with a loader safely lifted the vehicle to assist the ejected female passenger.
The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office report said the male juvenile driver lost control of the vehicle on a gravel road, entering the ditch.
He rolled on top of a female juvenile passenger and she was ejected from the passenger side window.
The female passenger was transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center, and later flown to Rochester, Minnesota for treatment.
Her condition was not immediately released. The driver was not injured.
Seven City Fire Department Rescue Squad members were on the scene, with 15 firefighters on standby and the fire station if needed, but were not called to the scene.
The Rescue Squad was on scene about a half hour.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Enrollment declines at North Dakota’s institutions of higher learning haven’t been as steep as elsewhere since the COVID-19 pandemic began. According to a new report from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, enrollment across the country at colleges and universities is down 6.5% compared to two years ago, which is the largest two-year enrollment drop in the last 50 years. Overall North Dakota colleges and universities experienced a 3.4% decrease in enrollment from 2019, and a 1.4% decrease from 2020. A few schools have experienced enrollment increases, including the University of North Dakota.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo is urging voters to reject a ballot question that would replace the city’s police department. Arradondo said Wednesday it would do nothing to address the issues laid bare with the death last year of George Floyd. Voters will decide Tuesday whether to approve a new public safety unit that would take “a more comprehensive public health approach” to policing. The ballot question would also drop a required minimum number of police officers and give City Council members more oversight of police. Opponents have said the proposal is vague, with no specific plan for the replacement.

In world and national news..
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Investigators say there was “some complacency” in how weapons were handled on a movie set where Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed a cinematographer and wounded another person. Speaking Wednesday at a news conference, they also said it’s too soon to determine whether charges will be filed. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza noted that 500 rounds of ammunition were found while searching the set of the Western “Rust.” They included a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and live rounds.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The mayor of the Florida county that’s home to the nation’s biggest theme park resorts is lifting a pandemic-related state of emergency order. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said he was letting the order expire Wednesday afternoon. Orange County’s positivity rate has been below 5% for 17 consecutive days and the 14-day average rate was 3.5%. Under the state of emergency, county employees were required to be vaccinated with at least one shot by the end of August, or face discipline. Unvaccinated workers also were required to be tested weekly for COVID-19, but they’ll no longer have to do that.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Homeland Security says U.S. immigration authorities will no longer make routine immigration arrests at schools, hospitals or a range of other “protected” areas. New guidance for immigration officers and agents released Wednesday is the latest in a series of efforts to take a more targeted approach to enforcement. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said agents and officers should take into account the the impact of their enforcement actions and what he called “broader societal interests.” The move is likely to further alienate Biden administration critics who say the government is softening its approach to immigration enforcement as large number of migrants attempt to cross the Southwest border.
HUIXTLA, Mexico (AP) — A growing migrant caravan set out early after a day of rest on its trek across southern Mexico. About 2,000 migrants had walked out of the southern city of Tapachula near the Guatemala border on Saturday. While the multitude is challenging to count, it appeared significantly larger Wednesday and its leaders estimated its size at 4,000. Without any issue, the migrants passed a customs, immigration and military checkpoint where authorities typically seize drugs and look for human smugglers. Though still significantly smaller than caravans in 2018 and 2019, this is the biggest group moving through southern Mexico since the pandemic started early last year.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Voting rights advocates have filed a new lawsuit in federal court over Texas’ newly redrawn congressional district maps. The lawsuit, filed by Texas voters and voting advocacy organization Voto Latino, claims the maps dilute the vote of communities of color. The GOP-drawn map does not create any new districts in which Black or Hispanic voters make up more than 50 percent of eligible voters. Texas was the only state to be awarded two new congressional seats earlier this year following a population growth of 4 million people, nearly half of which are Hispanic.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has endorsed Herschel Walker for the Senate in Georgia. That lends the clout of the highest-ranking elected GOP official in the country to the candidacy of a former football star whose turbulent personal history could create problems for his general election campaign. Walker is the odds-on favorite to win the Republican primary next May. He’s seeking the chance to unseat Democrat Raphael Warnock, the state’s first Black senator, and help the GOP regain control of the Senate. Walker has the backing of former President Donald Trump. McConnell was initially cool to a Walker candidacy. But by endorsing him now, McConnell can sidestep what could have been a messy intraparty fight with Trump.
