Valley City (CSi) Meeting in Special Session, Monday, the Valley City Public School board discussed the future of the school district, regarding the recent survey concerning school facilities, and a possible referendum.
Last evening School Board member Darin Anderson indicted that before deciding on holding a referendum, or other funding options, a number of questions need to addressed.
One question is what to do with empty school buildings, if VCPS moves forward with building a new structure.
Superintendent Johnson said anyone who wants to provide additional input or comment about the school districts proposed plans or options concerning their facilities should call the district office at 701-845-0483 or email Superintendent Josh Johnson at josh.johnson@k12.nd.us
The Valley City School Board will address those issues at the next meeting, on December 15.

This year, The Next No Excuses women’s health screening is set for:
- Tuesday, Nov. 16 from noon to 6 p.m.
For more information on No Excuses, visit https://jrmcnd.com/no-excuses/. Appointments can be made online or over the phone. To schedule a mammogram for any other day, call JRMC Mammography at (701) 952-4852.
No Excuses reduces barriers to care, including insurance coverage, transportation or appointment times during the regular business day. The goal of No Excuses is to increase the number of area women who receive regular Pap smear test screenings and 3D mammograms.
Central Valley Health and Jamestown Regional Medical Center created No Excuses in 2015. Since then, more than 100 women have received 3D mammograms and preventative services they otherwise wouldn’t have. At any given time, more than 1,300 Stutsman County women are not up to date on their screenings.
No Excuses is only possible because of the community’s generosity, said JRMC Foundation Director Lisa Jackson. In 14 years, the hundreds of Running of the Pink participants have raised more than $165,000 for this cause. R.M. Stoudt Inc. organizes the walk/run each year.
Valley City (11-15-21) Here’s the latest message to VC Residents from Mayor Dave Carlsrud.
Hi Everybody,
Last weekend provided a quick change in our driving conditions. It took me a bit to re-educate myself to the feel of slippery roads. Please slow down and be safe.
Last week it was my pleasure to attend the Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) Fall Member Meeting with three of our city employees. There was a plethora of informative topics presented; from strategic planning, membership services to legislative updates, financial reports and the very critical cyber-security protection for the infrastructure. In addition, there was time for networking with MRES Employees, other community representatives and some visiting among our group.
Garbage Cans: With the summer we had there was rarely an accumulation of rain in our garbage cans. Now with the fall rains it happens more frequently. If it is happening to you, try drilling four or five quarter-inch holes in the bottom.
There are some break-through COVID cases throughout the country and North Dakota. That said the unvaccinated comprise a very high percentage of hospitalized COVID patients and deaths. * Think about protecting your family, friends and co-workers; please get vaccinated.
Addiction: If you or someone you know is struggling, get help. It is helping me.

He did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A Bismarck man accused of physically abusing his infant son has pleaded not guilty to felony charges. Twenty-two-year-old Jaydenle Bushard waived his right to a preliminary hearing in court Monday and entered the pleas to three counts of felony child abuse. Last month Bismarck police responded to a call that the 1-month-old baby was unresponsive. A police affidavit says the child had suffered scratches, bruising on both legs, a bruise on his chin, and bruising on the right and back left portion of his head. Police say Bushard told them he bounced the baby on his leg without supporting the infant’s head, and said the baby hit his head on the wall while being bounced.

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — Jurors are set to begin deliberating Tuesday at Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial after two weeks of testimony in which they were given starkly different portrayals of his actions the night he shot three men on the streets of Kenosha. Prosecutors say Rittenhouse was a “wannabe soldier” who provoked a confrontation, while the defense says he feared for his life and acted in self-defense after being ambushed by a “crazy person.” Eighteen jurors have been hearing the case; the 12 who will decide Rittenhouse’s fate and the six who will be designated alternates will be determined by the drawing of names from a lottery drum. Rittenhouse, then 17, shot two men to death and wounded a third during a tumultuous night of protests against racial injustice in the summer of 2020.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s network regulator says it’s suspended its procedure to certify the operator of a new pipeline that would bring Russian gas to the country under the Baltic Sea because of an issue with the company’s status under German law. Construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline was completed earlier this year but it’s not yet in operation. It’s a contentious project that Ukraine and the United States have opposed. Russia has said it could quickly boost natural gas supplies once German regulators allow the new pipeline to start operation. It wasn’t immediately clear to what extent Tuesday’s move would delay those plans.
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish border forces say they were attacked with stones by migrants at the border with Belarus and responded with water cannons. The Border Guard agency posted video on Twitter showing a cannon being directed across the border at a group of migrants in a makeshift camp. Poland’s Defense Ministry said its soldiers and other border forces were attacked with stones and other objects. The ministry also said that Belarusian forces tried to destroy fencing along the countries’ common border. Meanwhile, parliament is expected Tuesday to debate a legislative proposal that would regulate the ability of citizens to move in the area of the border with Belarus after a state of emergency ends at this end of this month.
LONDON (AP) — British police have released four men arrested under terrorism laws by detectives investigating a homemade bomb explosion in a Liverpool taxi. Police have named the suspected bomber, who died, as 32-year-old Emad Al Swealmeen, who came to Britain as an asylum-seeker several years ago and had converted to Christianity. Al Swealmeen was killed and a taxi driver injured when a blast ripped through the vehicle outside Liverpool Women’s Hospital on Sunday morning. Police have called the blast a terrorist act, but say they are still working to determine the motive. Four men in their 20s who had been detained under the Terrorism Act were released late Monday. Police said they are “satisfied with the accounts they have provided.”
LONDON (AP) — Drugmaker Pfizer Inc. has signed a deal with a U.N.-backed group to allow other manufacturers to make its experimental COVID-19 pill. The move could help make the treatment available to more than half of the world’s population. In a statement on Tuesday, Pfizer said it would grant a license for the antiviral pill to the Medicines Patent Pool. The agreement lets generic drug companies make the pill for use in 95 countries. The deal excludes some large countries with manufacturing capacity. But health officials say the fact that the deal was struck before Pfizer’s pill has been authorized anywhere could help end the pandemic more quickly.
